Mr. Peter Wright
Former IELTS speaking and writing examiner with the British Council and IDP and has worked as the IDP Resident IELTS Expert in the Philippines. For many years now, he has specialized in IELTS teacher and student training, conducting IELTS teacher training workshops.
He is a Cambridge DELTA qualified English teacher and has been involved in TEFL for over 30 years. He has worked in quite a few countries with organizations such as International House, IDP Education & British Council. Currently, he is working as an Education Consultant in Vietnam.

Teacher Training
Courses
A workshop for IELTS teachers who want to sharpen their grading of students’ IELTS Speaking tests and learn strategies and tips from an ex-IELTS examiner. This workshop involves group discussions, sharing of ideas and strategies, problem solving activities, the opportunity to clarify any aspect of the IELTS Speaking test with an ex-examiner.
IELTS Speaking Test:
Grading & Teaching Strategies
• We will be grading IELTS mock speaking tests throughout the day.
• Discuss Vietnamese students’ challenges when it comes to the IELTS Speaking test. Share your tips and strategies on how to improve your students’ grade. Get advice from the ex-examiner on effective strategies and teaching techniques.
• Learn what IELTS examiners are looking for in the Speaking test.
• Q&A with the ex-examiner. Your chance to ask/clarify anything you want or need to know on how examiners grade students.
• Myth busting. Brainstorming of the popular IELTS Speaking myths and legends. Separate the truth from fiction. Discussion on the negative impact of IELTS Speaking myths and how to combat them.
• Detailed explanation of the IELTS Speaking Band Descriptors. Clarification of the language used in the band descriptors and apply them to grading
• Discussion and sharing of the effective teaching strategies for each part of the Speaking test. Tips from an ex-examiner on the most effective strategies.
• How to give effective feedback to students on how to improve their performance.
• Discussion and tips on instilling a positive approach to the Speaking test.
